A programme especially developed for families settling in the UK for the first time. (3 months to 2 years)
Although children tend to assimilate quite quickly, leaving behind the education system with which they are familiar can be a stressful and disorientating experience. The aim of this programme is to help children integrate quickly and effectively into all aspects of the UK system, guiding them through all coursework, revision and examination requirements as well as helping them with language skills and socialisation in a foreign country.
As an essential part of these classes, my English reading programme, based around the Roald Dahl books, can help rapidly expand vocabulary and understanding of grammar. Rather than asking children to learn long lists of words, I encourage reading as a vital part of the process in allowing a child to see how language works in practice and to enjoy reading. |
